Meetings and accommodation at Hotel Postgaarden, Fredericia’s oldest urban hotel

Historic, charming and intimate

Hotel Postgaarden is located in the heart of Fredericia, a stone’s throw from the pedestrian street and harbour. Banqueting and meeting facilities in classic surroundings with a focus on service at Fredericia’s oldest hotel.

At Hotel Postgaarden, you’ll feel a sense of history as soon as you enter the cosy reception. The decor is characterised by heavy brocade curtains, voluminous furniture, gold-framed paintings and crystal chandeliers – but in bright, refurbished surroundings.

The historic hotel, which dates back to 1880, saw new owners take over in the summer of 2021, and it has been lovingly restored since then.

“I guess you could call the style romantic. Lamps, porcelain, furniture, carpets etc. are all true to the hotel’s history. Naturally we have renovated the rooms and bathrooms to a modern standard, but without compromising on charm,” explains Thorbjørn Birkelund, Hotel Manager at Hotel Postgaarden.
Intimate meeting facilities
Hotel Postgaarden can accommodate up to 40 guests in the larger of the two meeting rooms located on the first floor of the hotel. This makes it a great choice for more intimate meetings and events.

“We organise meetings and events every week. Like the rest of the venue, our meeting rooms are decorated in a romantic style, but of course with modern AV equipment,” says Thorbjørn Birkelund.

Close to water and town
At Hotel Postgaarden you are within walking distance of almost everything Fredericia has to offer. The pedestrian street, harbour and ramparts are just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel – and Østerstrand is just a 15-minute walk away.

“We can help arrange guided tours of the harbour or experiences in the town if you need a break from the meeting programme. If you need a packed lunch or a thermos to take out into the fresh air in the afternoon, we can do that too,” says the hotel manager.

Authentic Danish dishes
The restaurant at Hotel Postgaarden serves tasty and hearty dishes inspired by traditional Danish cuisine morning, noon and night.

“Our wiener schnitzel is a staple, but otherwise the menu varies according to the season. There are usually both traditional dishes and modern classics on the menu, so there’s something for everyone. And as with everything else, we can of course customise the menu according to specific requests,” Thorbjørn Birkelund points out.
